Trouble Installing on MAC ... Help
-
Hi,
I downloaded the free SketchUp 2014 and have been modelling things in it for a few days.
I decided I'd benefit from installing a few plugins and ran into trouble.
It's clear that the plug in file needs to be placed in the Plugin folder and after reading a number of 'how to' guides and searching forums, I believe the folder is -
Hard Drive'/Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 8/SketchUp/Plugins
OR, the Ruby Console suggests the location is -
/Users/liamcresswell/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2014/SketchUp/plugins
The issue I have is, either of those folders exist?!
Can anybody shed any light on this? I'm thinking I might of installed the program incorrectly. I'm a new user so this is quite possible.

hi and welcome,
try this in 'Ruby Console' and it should open at the correct path...
%x(open "#{ENV["HOME"]}/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2014/SketchUp/Plugins" 2>&1)the only one I would add manually to this is the is the SCF one and then use that or Extension warehouse to get any others...

In addition to John's excellent advice, use Install Extension under Preferences>Extensions in the SketchUp menu (left of File) to install the Sketchucation Plugin Store after you've downloaded it to your computer. Then, as he says use the Sketchucation Plugin Store or Extension Warehouse to automatically install plugins.
And for what it's worth, you wouldn't have the Google/SketchUp 8/ directory if you only have SU2014 installed.
