A simple model of an ash side table, but in need of an ash texture. Drawn as shown made in an old woodworking magazine.

As Dave R would say, just keeping my hand in.

      Regards,
      Bob

Nice work, sir. What sort of ash do you have in mind for this table? How would it be stained?

          Dear David,

I'm not sure about the wood, other than the article specifies ash. The author says that he made up the panels out of strips to make them more stable and to enhance the grain pattern by making it more diverse and interesting.

          Regards,
          Bob

            Very well modeled.
But... I would prefer the 'top' to be a made from a single piece of wood - not three.
With the 'legs' then 'pegged' up into it.
As it is, if i were to 'perch' on the 'cantilevered' overhangs of the top, then I'd expect a 'cracking' sound... πŸ˜•
BUT, still a nice idea... πŸ˜‰

              Dear Bob,

How about a piece of European Ash? I didn't have a lot of time to spend on this so I exploded the components within the groups to avoid the repetition. You could certainly work with the model as you have it and apply the material to each piece individually if you want. Check your PMs.

TIG, I agree with you. The top ends of the uprights could have bow ties cut into them and matching bow tie mortises in the top. I bet it was easier for the person who built the original to cut all the dovetail joints, though. πŸ˜‰
