Main (Global) Axes Disappears
-
Hey SketchUp Gurus -
Have a slightly annoying issue in SU2014 where my Axes disappears at some point during the modeling process. Checking the View menu shows that the Axes is checked (as in 'show axes'). I'm working in the Construction Documentation style, and checking out the 'Edit Style' shows that 'Show Model Axes' is enabled. Changing styles does not cause the Axes to show up. Turning off Hardware Acceleration and restarting SketchUp has no effect (except for making me remember modeling on my old computer! lol).
I have never noticed this happen before on this machine - I ran SU 2013 all last year on it and no issues. Just in case, the specs are Early 2008 Mac Tower 2 x 2.8 Quad Cores Xeon, 8GB RAM, ATI RadeonHD 5870 1GB, OS X 10.8.4. Installed and running non-OEM extensions are the Dibac Plugin, the Vali Roof generator, and Viso3D exporter.
Creating a new file gives me a blank sheet with a Global Axes just as it should be. But as modeling progresses, it disappears. Deleting all geometry, saving (as new file), and reopening does not cause the Axes to reappear.
Haven't ruled out the possibility of this being related to the many Marvin Window components used on all these models - seems that the Axes disappeared sometime while I was adding all the windows (the Marvin Dynamic Casement Window - a great model BTW). Not sure if it's related but haven't ruled it out.
Downloading the new Mavericks OS right now, and will see if the Radeon needs an update. Looks like I'm on the latest version of SketchUp. Will repost if the issue is solved by software updates alone, otherwise assume that it persists.

Might be an OpenGL setting. You could try changing Use Hardware Acceleration and/or Use Fast Feedback one at a time and see if that changes things.
Have you checked to see if the axes are enabled under the View menu? Also look under the Edit tab in the Styles window to see if the axes are enabled with the style. Perhaps the axis visibility setting is being changed?

I appreciate your help, and those are all great suggestions - but did you read my post? I went through all those before posting here on the forums.
Quick update: I have updated to Mavericks and installed the most updated drivers for the video card and still no luck. Just to be sure I tried the 'Hardware Acceleration' and 'Fast Feedback' again to no avail.

Another update - opening the same file on my 2008 MacBook Pro with the NVIDIA GeForce 256 and OS 10.8.4 gives the same result: No Axes. This is on a model where the Axes had previously disappeared.

I have the same problem, only in one file, sketchup 2014, 109mb file size. Tried adjusting graphics card settings (windows 7 32GB Ram Nvidia Quadro 4000), made no difference, similar sized files retain axes. I actually went looking for the axes because when copying or creating new components they skewed slightly, thought it might have been related to the global axes location.

I have the same issue. styles and view toolbar all set to show axes, but they are not showing. I have had this in models with and without the marvin windows which I agree are awesome components.
helpful to see the axes when modeling though so any thoughts would be much appreciated.
thanks in advance.

Forgot to mention its difficult to reset the axes accurately without seeing them to right click them.
thanks,
