        Hi:
Is the large gray area the surface of the sphere?
You could create that 2d outline, extrude it to make a ribbed cylinder component.
Use something like Component Spray or a similar plugin like Components onto Faces to place them.
Then intersect them with the sphere. Remove the unwanted geometry.
This is laborious, I admit, and most likely there is another way.
You did not specify the number or frequency/spacing of the openings.
No guarantee for radial/axial alignment relative to the centroid of the sphere.

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

I was suggesting that you populate the surface of the sphere with instances of the dentilated solid "cylinder" by using one of the plugins I named.
Possibly making a cutting component, such as TIG has discussed elsewhere.

It might be nice if you would give more information in your user profile. What operating system? What version of Sketchup? Free or Pro? These may have a bearing on how someone else may answer your questions.

              ok I see now better
I am using skp2013 free & win XP

Components onto Faces seems to be the best for what I would like to do.
for be more explicite, my sphere should looks like the moon, with all its craters
perhaps is there an easier way to do..?
here is a pic for 100% understanding

p.s. I took the plugin but I dont know how to install it..

                  Hi, erzane:
I was unable to continue on this, but see this image.
Not knowing what su version you had, I did it in v8. But this is just an image in the middle of a process. And not necessarily the best approach.

                    Hi,
                    thanks for your reply
yes it should be smt like this
pls how did you do it ?

in fact I would like to do smt like this
I could make it by hand, but with the help of skp, my geometry would be more precise
so, I need a sphere, and in his surface, I would like to put a lot of holes, like some craters, but personaly, I need holes only, nothing more complicated

thanks guys, I really need your help
