XMLDRSpawner.bin freezing SketchUp

Each time I open SketchUp Make 2014 on OSX, XMLDRSpawner.bin opens as well. The process of opening this takes around 5 minutes, during which time sketch up is unresponsive.
Distributed Rendering is turned off, and it doesn't seem to be a problem for me to quit XMLDRSpawner.bin once it has opened - it just takes ages to open in the first place.
Does anyone else have this issue, and if so, how would I resolve it?

the initialization of our plugin is the slowdown, we don't wait for xmlspawner to start up before allowing you to continue using SketchUp. The spawner is necessary if you do an RT render, so it runs in the background. Using DR with a spawner on your local machine would be pointless.
