      Hi-
I have a 3D model of a the veins and arteries in the thorax and abdomen. I want to center the 3D objects around a 2D plane, but maintain their diameters (i.e., I do not want to end up with 2D objects, I want them to retain their 3D properties).
      Is this possible?
      Help,
      Dan

The simple answer is Yes, the real question is, What exactly are you having difficulty with?

Thanks for your reply. I am just beginning with Sketchup. Does what I am trying to do require a plug-in? The approach I am taking now is tracing a stick figure of the vascular tree in a plane, then using the follow me tool. I'd prefer to preserve all the features of the tree. I do not know where to begin with the approach.
          Thanks,
          Dan

I'm sorry, I still don't understand what it is you are trying to do. Perhaps some images, screen shots of what you have so far or even the model would help us understand in what direction to push you.

To add images or models scroll down a bit in the reply window and you'll find the upload attachment tab.

              Hi,
I've attached a front view and sideview of the vessels.
The vessel tree takes a tortuous pathway in x,y,z.
I want to remove the curvature in the z-axis so the center of the entire course of the the vessels are centered in the x-y plane.
              Thanks,
              Dan

The z-axis is the blue one. Y is in the green direction and X is in the red. Do you really want to remove the z-axis excursions?

If I were doing this I would either leave them 3D and use Parallel Projection and a standard view such as the front or I would project the tracings onto a plane before running Follow Me. You could use Didier Bur's Projection tool set or I think there's a projection tool in one of Fredo's extensions but I'd have to hunt to see which one.

If you leave them 3D as drawn and just use Parallel Projection, they'd be easier to edit and modify if needed. It would be a whole lot less work, too.

                  Hi Dave R.,
I want to project into the Z-X plane.
I tried to create a flat TIN then Sandbox-> Drape the vessels onto the flat plane. That had no effect. I could not find the D Bur Projection for Sketchup 2014. Does anyone know if they are forward compatible. Here is what I was able to find for Fredo's plug ins. Nothing seemed to fit the bill.

D Bur Projection works in SU2014. I downloaded it from his library, changed the extension from .zip to .rbz and used Install Extension to install it. Quit and restart SketchUp to get it to load completely and enable its toolbar in View>Toolbars.
