I'm not even really sure how to describe my question ...
Sometimes when I draw a circle on a surface and then push it through a solid, the resulting "hole" has cylindrical surfaces, and sometimes it doesn't. What is the difference? Which way is correct?

I'm hoping someone out there knows what I'm asking.

        Hi, Tim, this is Tim:
It could help us if you could at least post an image of these conditions.

My guess is that you have been pushing backside through and getting no surfaces, and then other times you are pushing front sides and getting those surfaces.
At least, that is the picture that came to my mind. There may be other conditions that can cause this, but without an image or a .skp file to examine, I cannot be sure.

Thank you. Currently I'm on my iPad. I'll try to snap a photo of my computer screen and attach.

The vertical holes through the horizontal piece do not seem to have interior cylindrical faces. The horizontal holes have the faces.

Go to View>Hidden Geometry, click it. See if anything shows. I take it you have "xray" view on right now? Maybe un xray it and look in the hole. Is there a rabbit down there? 💚 No- I mean can you see hidden edges?

                Hi Tim and Tim,

When you create any of the boolean interferences or context menu "intersect faces with..." circles and cilinders cease to be circles or cilinders and become only faces and lines.

Thus if you pushpull a face that was formerly a circle and now is just a bunch of lines it doesn't "soften edges" like in a cilinder from a pushpulled circle.

You have to manually soften them with eraser tool+modifier key (windows it's CTRL; I don't know wich one it is on MAC...)

Then all your cilinders will look alike.

                Hope this helps,

                JQL

                  Hi, JQL:
Thanks for your info. I was waiting to see if the other Tim was going to reply and then see where we needed to go further.
                  This is good information.

                    Thank you. That makes sense.

The holes with interior edges were, in fact, started as circles that were generated with interact faces.
