I am completely green about installing SketchUcation plugins. I downloaded and installed the Plugin Store v2.5.1. I used the Store button to download Shape Bender several times.
The installation runs to completion without error. It does not appear in my list of plugins. My Downloads shows Chris Fullmer: Shape Bender Beta.
My Installs is blank. What am I missing.
I am us1ng Sketchup 8.

Some plugins are extensions that need to be activated before they will work, there are a couple of ways of turning them on. The sketucation plugin has an extension manager or you can go the traditional way.
Top toolbar, Window/Preferences/Extensions and tick the box next to shapebender in the list. If it isn't there then it hasn't installed correctly. One related issue that comes up all the time is security permissions, have a look at this thread http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323%26amp;t=56005

Box,
Thanks for the advice. I followed the instructions in the link you recommended, and changed my security permissions as advised by them.
Then I downloaded Shape Bender again. The installation procedure ran to completion error free.
Now when I look at the Plugin Manger, CLF_Shape_Bender_Loader appears as a loaded plugin. Nothing about Shape Bender appears in the Extension manager.
After the install, when I open Sketchup, I get a security notice to allow this program to change files. I click the Yes button. Then I get an error messate that says:
"Error Loading File clf_shape_bender_loader.rb
no such file to load -- progressbar.rb"Please advise.

Jerry, the error message says that Progressbar.rb has not been installed. You need that plugin as well. This one comes as a .rb file. You'll need to manually add that to the Plugins folder. Or get the current version of Shape Bender via the Extension Warehouse. The author indicates that progressbar.rb isn't needed with the current version.

Thanks Dave R
I followed your advice and discarded the copy previously downloaded and got the one from Extension Warehuse. I now have it installed, and have 2 problems.

The toolbar button works but does not have an icon. The help text is there, but not the icon. How can I update that?

When I select a component or group, the selection disappears when I invoke shape bender. Shape Bender prompts for the line and the curve, and adds the start and end markers. But nothing appears on the curve. What am I missing?

How did you install the plugin? It doesn't sound as if it has been installed correctly. Did you try closing and restarting SketchUp?

I had copied just the .rb file from the folder that holds the download. I copied the rest of the files into the Plugin folder. Once done, the next Sketchup startup installed it again, this time with an icon in the toolbar, but still giving the same effect as to dropping the selection as soon as the tool starts.
Further, the Sketchup icon on my taskbar shows a security shield. Sketchup seems to reinstall every time it opens. At least there is a User Account Control dialog box announcing that Skethup is an unknown publisher that wants to make changes. When approved, Sketchup loads and works fine except for the Bender problem.

Watch for a PM, Jerry.
