I am experienced with AutoCAD and use progeCAD since I retired. I am getting into 3D printing (with a RepRap) to produce patterns for casting from CAD drawings.

I am using SketchUp Make and the drawings import okay but the 'line type' doesn't behave the way lines do that are drawn in SU - I can't push/pull them although SU does recognize each individual segment as some kind of entity.

How can I convert the imported lines or make them behave as SU lines?

The import is only bringing in edges but to run Push/Pull you must have faces. If you trace over an edge segment with the line tool and that segment is part of a closed loop, you should get a face. You could try the Make Faces plugin to speed up the process. If the edges don't make truly closed loops, you won't get faces, though.
