No detail of background when inserting from SU to Layout
-
When i add a model from SetchUp into the Layout programme it doesnt include the detailed image from the google earth image.
I have played around with the different styles in the panel on the right in layout, checked its been rendered, tried both vector and raster but nothing seems to work.
At most i end up with a coloured blob of a square with no detailing.
Attached is a snapshot of the most i seem to be able to get from the google image.
Has anyone else had the same problem or know of a solution?
Many thanks,
Only the green colouring from the image

It worked just fine for me.
Create a scene in SketchUp making sure the style is set to show textures, Then use that scene for the viewport.

When creating a style i only get the following options in the menu

You have more options. Click the tan cube. You could also put the Face Styles toolbar up so you can choose between face styles.
This from my Mac but it's the same on your PC.

also did you just insert it as a image or as a sketch up file?
-
I inserted it as a SketchUp viewport. I thought that's what you were having difficulty with.
Are you rendering the viewport as Vector? That would also create the situation you show. Render as Hybrid instead. That'll give you vector lines with raster texture images. In Vector render you don't get any textures.

yes your right, i followed; file - insert - .skp file
I have also gone through the face styles as you suggested and i still dont have the detail from the google earth image.
If i upload the houses example as a .skp file, would you be able to insert it as a model into your layout to see if it is fault in the .skp file or in my layout programme?

What you suggested with the vector and hybrid selections

Its a work around but just try. Save the GE texture out of the model and then bring back in by replacing the texture. I know all sorts of funny things can happen with rendering when the map isn't available to be dragged in. Could be similar happening here due to some machine irregularity.???
