Er. Suddenly I'm being offered Mavericks upgrade for free. And yes Apple is NOT charging for this OS upgrade. (What happened to the cat thing?)

What do you think? Anyone have any idea whether it's safe or worthwhile to jump in?

I think for the apple users it's a very tough decision...
If it's free, it can't be any good. πŸ˜†

Yes, FREE!!!! and here we are sorta complaining πŸ˜„ I suppose its human nature to think something is not up to par when its free? Then again, the more I think about it, why shouldn't Apple's OS X be free, after all it can only run on Macs and there would be no point in having a Mac without an operating system.

Anyway, I've downloaded Mavericks before they change their mind πŸ˜‰ However I have not installed it as I want to read a few reviews before doing so. Going from Snow Leopard to Lion screwed my ability to use Canvas X MacVersion! Once bitten twice shy πŸ˜’

Just out of curiosity how big was the Mavericks download? Windows 8.1 was 3.6GB; depending on your connection speed that could be quite quick or in my case several hours!!!

Yep, the previous versions cost a whopping $30. Apple has always provided a lot of SW for free (some of it very good IMO). That's not their money maker, it's the carrot. I appreciate that there is only ONE current version/flavor OS, one price, and always has been.

Looking at the ratings a few minutes ago I imagine critical thinking possibly impaired by the 'free' price tag πŸ˜†

Downloaded in a little over an hour but haven't installed.

For me the question to try has been answered. My other software, PowerCADD, issued a "wait" notice right away.

                          Anyone tried Mavericks ?
I have someone telling me that web-dialog callbacks are busted when they installed it ...
For example, how is the SCF Plugin Store working for you with it ??
                          Downloading OK ?

It might somehow be incompatible with v8/v2013 ?
I'd appreciate feedback before jumping in at the deep-end...
