    Hello,

I'm having some trouble with a model I'm working on. We're trying to compare color options between two models that are the same base model but saved in different files by bringing them into the same file and placed side by side. Understanding that they have the same components and possibly materials, I changed all the names of the components and materials in the first model and imported the second model with the different colors. However, some of the components of the imported model has inherited the materials from the first model and has also taken the names of the components of that model. Is there any reason why the names of the components would change?

    Thanks!
    Lisa

So you just changed the names of the materials? You didn't apply new materials to the faces in the component?

No, I changed the names of the materials before I imported the 2nd model. But the 2 models did not have the same materials prior to being placed into one file.

Could you post some example files? Or at least screen shots of the before and after?
