SketchUp Troubleshoot [Plugin set up advice]
-
Hi,
I am currently trying to download some plugins for SketchUp 8. I have been able to go into the preferences dialogue and "install" my plugin, which seems to go smoothly enough, but when I actually try to find and use my new plugin it is nowhere to be found.
Has anyone else had this problem and been able to figure out why this happens?
Thank you very much!

It would help to know which plugin. It may be you're looking in the wrong place. Perhaps you need to activate it by ticking a box for it in the Extensions list or maybe you need to quite and restart SketchUp. Or maybe the plugin requires support files which you haven't installed. Or maybe you haven't given full permissions for the Plugins folder.

I am trying to install the Curviloft_v1.2d plugin. I have checked the "ruby script examples" box in the extensions list, this seems to be the only one that pertains to the plugins that I am trying to install. I am not the administrator on the computer I am using, could this be the problem? The file type that I am downloading is .rbz. Do I need to convert this file possibly?
Thank you for your help!

So Curviloft requires the LibFredo6 files as well. If you didn't get them, the plugin won't work. It also requires full permissions to the Plugins folder so that it can write a file that is used to remember settings you make. You will need to get someone with Admin powers to do that for you. Try closing SketchUp and reopening it. You'll likely get an error message. Please copy and paste it here. It'll tell us a lot.

I have attempted to download the LibFredo6 file and I am having the same problem. I do not believe that I have full permissions to the plugin file because I am not an administrator on the computer I am using (Work Computer). I am going to attempt to become an administrator so that I may further address this problem.
I really appreciate the advice! Thank you for your help.

I hope you can sort out the admin thing. I expect that'll fix you up straight away.

Just changed the heading to 'SketchUp Troubleshoot [Plugin set up advice]' to make it more searchable
