      Just finished this new model, so I tried a couple of shots. πŸ˜„
      This lamp was designed in 1972 by Achille Castiglioni and is called "Lampadina" (the Italian word for "bulb") and indeed almost the entire the lamp is...the bulb. πŸ˜‰
      Rendered with Thea. CRF and glare in Thea's darkroom. Just a slight color/saturation&contrast correction in post pro.

          Q: How do you model the bulbs with quads...?

          It's a simple "follow me" on something like this.

            You didn't notice that I removed the Q before you posted your answer... πŸ˜›
            Aahhh well... It was actually my mistake... 😳
            I know very well that when making a bulb, it will be in quads...
            I was struggling the other day making a tank and getting the vertical part with quads... 😐
            But I know that a sphere will be made as quads... πŸ˜‰

                  Eh, you probably removed it while I was writing my reply. Anyway I have to admit that i was a bit surprised of such a question coming from an experienced and good modeler like you. πŸ˜‰

                  Good eye Oli, yes I was exactly after a "golden" light like that. β˜€

                      Remind me this lamp used for theatrical lighting.

                        @Alvis: are you kidding? πŸ˜„
                        @Gilles: well yours seems quite a technical lamp with a chrome part. This one is just a big common bulb (12,5 cm of diameter and only 40W of power) with a sandblasted part used to avoiding dazzle. πŸ˜‰

                          Brilliant Massimo! Like Oli suggests the IBL is SWEET, particularly as it is in such a reflective surface!

                            It's a free HDRI by Bob Groothuis called van Kleef 3. Great quality HDRIs there.
