I do most of my designing (furniture) on a Mac desktop. It would be useful to be able to email a drawing to my iPad so I could take that out to my shop and check dimensions, etc. I have seen ipad apps that will allow viewing, but not dimensioning, move/copy, etc. Does anyone know if this can be done?

Sight space 3d, one of the big ads at the top of the page.

          Not yet.
The best I've been able to come up with is to take photos of the subject dim view of the SU model with my android phone so I don't have to keep running back to the computer to recall the dims. A photo because it saves time transferring files and sending etc

Sightspace3D does none of the functions the op asked about. I can't imagine much SU functionality without a mouse...perhaps auto dims or something.

Theoretically, a Microsoft Surface Pro could do it. It carries programs on its hard drive. And it has a stylus, of some sort. My old tablet pc from 2006 can do it with the stylus provided. The screen and stylus were made by Wacom in conjunction with Toshiba.

Got a surface pro (128 GB) a few weeks ago and have sketchup running just fine. I am still experimenting and trying to adapt to windows 8.
Small screen but sharp and gets the point across. great for less formal meetings to show progress, not meant to be a graphics whiz. You can connect to another monitor. VGA resolution not so good however. I haven't experimented with the HDR connection yet.

                    Update on using the Surface.

Still hate their stupid commercials -among those that spoil what little TV I watch.

Works great with the HDMI connection on large screen TV and monitor. Excellent companion to a small Epson projector I recently bought. All wireless operation makes it easy. Mouse works with the surface for good navigation. We have used the combination for several small Powerpoint presentations. Tomorrow will give it the first big test to promote a project at a Economic Development Board in nearby town. Will be projecting still renderings and animation. Hope it impresses the board.
