Sketchup to STAAD
-
Hello everyone...
Little question for you.... Are there a plugin today for the STAAD pro program ??
Thnx

I`m thinking somthing to export my SU modell to STAAD for a quick analysis, if possible.. This is structural elements...
-
So what is the list of the files'format accepted by Staad ?
-
hmmmmmm good question, i dont know. I dont use STAAD he he he.... Gimme a minute here and I`ll check it out....

Ok... Seems i found somthing... You can use DXF files so SU native DXF exporter works. but Staad dont want the modell as solids, it wants all the centerlines of all the profiles in use.
-
Then you'll have to change the way you make your models in SU and use the dxf exporter. Build your model the way STAAD apparently wants it, don't expect a miracle plugin to fix your model into what STAAD is expecting to see.
[EDIT] I mean, once you get a workflow down that works, then maybe it will be easier to identify specific tasks that a plugin could help with, but a single magic bullet that will convert your model into centerlines and profiles is not likely. -
well my quick solution for the day was to use "profilebuilder" there i have the lines i need... Quick and works just great.

Can we convert SKP to DXF? THANX
-
Seems Pro version can do that!

As a structural engineer, I am very familiar with STAAD. It would not be hard to add a feature to Profile Builder for exporting directly to STAAD's .std file format. I have thought often about doing this.
I might eventually add this feature to Profile Builder if there would be enough interest...

Now that sounds great. You got my "yey" on that
