(linux) wine and Sketchup... + net.framework ?
-
hello,
Like many, I installed Sketchup with wine, and when I run it, everything appears except the central image (the workspace);
Then I looked at the Ubuntu doc page, I read the forums on the issue.
Commonly proposed solution does not fix the problem.
So I asked if we should not install NET.frameworkindispensable under windows.
So the question is: for whom Sketchup displays without problem have they previously installed Net.framework 2? -
I think it's more of an issue with the graphic card. I tried to run SU + Wine a long time ago on a machine with an ATI Radeon 9800 and I also had problems with the viewport not displaying. That was because the graphic card wasn't properly supported with decent OpenGL drivers.

I don't have Net Framwork installed for SketchUp (I think it's only required for Layout etc.), and some even recommended not to install it. On the other side, things change rapidely with Wine and I don't see a difference when I install .Net.
As thomthom said, it's likely something with OpenGL. What you describe was more common many many years ago when you used a compositing window manager and a 3d app. So it would be useful to know which operating system version you use. The proprietary graphics cards often come a long way and new series achieve usable drivers a year after release. I've had good experiences with Intel.
