SketchUp + Cycles Render Dining Table Render
-
Hi to everyone,
I have been testing Blender again and getting the hang of it for a week now but my skills in are still below compared to my sketchup. What I love with Blender this days is it's new UI and it's new renderer Cycles.
I have here a model from SU that I exported to Blender as OBJ and to my suprise Blender handles SU OBJ without a problem unlike other 3D program out there.Cycles render is very easy to use and has an interactive render viewport very similar to Maxwell Render and Octane.

Not to mention that cycles is GPU enabled so it's fast.....
Nice table....up the samples to let the noise resolve more

I´ve got no luck with the blender OBJ importer and smooth groups, with Collada dae files the smooth geometry was correct but with large models I had some problems with geometry misplaced, I had to explode the components and groups in sketchup before export to blender, also it seems a blender specific problem as I could import the same file in MAX and Mesh Lab with no problems, even without exploding anything.
Did you had similar problems? -
great work Allan, as usual!!! are you using HDRI to light up the scene???
I have been testing myself blender cycles for the last 2 months, hope soon I can show some of my work...

Yes Rich if your card is CUDA enabled rendering is very fast,thanks...
jaceguay; yeah big files to blender is not working, what I do is import them one by one or I model that object in blender. groups is working fine with me both blender to sketchup...
novena; yes I used HDRI for the lighting and reflections, yeah its cool alternative to high-end 3D app and it's free. Please do post some of your renders and I will post some more test in the coming days...
Peace
