Got into a sand trap and can't figure out what I did:

I was attempting to place dimensions on a drawing and two things happened, please see attached picture as well:

a.) the dimension appears beneath the drawing, I guess on the layer beneath.

b.) the dimension is the actual dimension on the screen and not what is going on in the drawing. For example a wall stud should show 92 1/4", instead it shows 2 1/4". I know that there is a way to make it go back to normal, but I can't figure it out.

      Regarding...

      a. In layout create a seperate layer for your dimensions and put it at the top of the list. Now set that as your current layer, move your dims to it and they will now visually sit on top of the rest of the drawing. That is how you set priority to display objects.

      b. Could be a number of things e.g. do you still have autoscale set and are you sure you are connecting with end points in the model?

Thx. I added a new layer, which is at the top of the list, and that corrected the dimension issue. Just out of interest, do you know why it might have happened initially? I think it has something to do with layers. It was measuring dimensions on a blank sheet of "paper/document", I wonder what caused it do disconnected from the document I was working on.

Don't know what would have caused it as LO does strange things at times. It works but has its frustrations. Under Trimble's stewardship hopefully SU 2013 will clean up a lot of these problems but it is still a young program that has lacked development.

Set your dimensions to "auto" when dimensioning a perspective view since that view has no scale. You probably have it set to 1:1.

              Hi Nick,

You mean like this? I will make sure that this is the case in the future.
