Convert lines to edges
-
Hi, newbie city planner here. Just started using SketchUp and love it for my work. Question: I imported a pair of DWG files consisting of (a) parcel lines and (b) building footprints. Is there a way to quickly turn all those footprint lines into edges and then create faces so I can Pull them into buildings? Can I select and Pull all the footprint faces at once? Those stesp would save me hours. Thank you for your help. Bill from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Hi Bill,
Those imported DWG lines would be edges in SketchUp already unless you didn't import the DWG file but imported an image file instead. You could draw a large rectangle in the same plane as the imported lines/edges and you should end up with faces. You might find gaps where edges should intersect that would prevent the faces from being separated from each other or you might find edges that aren't coplanar which might require some fixing before you can use Push/Pull but those things would depend upon your DWG file.
There's a plugin called Make Faces which can also help. I'll get the link for you.
I should ask how you got the DWG lines into your model with the free version of SU8.

Here you go.

You should look through some plugins from Thomthom, e.g.
For multiple push pull you can use Joint Push Pull from Fredo6.
