        First greeble panel. 50ft x 100ft. There will be at least six different panels. They will NOT be much more detailed. Any more detail will never be seen.

                      There is a sneaky way to fake stars, I did an experimental scene in Podium when I first started rendering...you can use a perforated globe with lights behind to create a galaxy. It's probably a daft way of doing things but it works!

                        Thanks for the suggestion and quick tut.

                        What I really need is a good way to make believable near orbit planets.

                        What I usually use for backgrounds are just photo images on an SU cyclorama or flat plane with photo.
