I would like to get workflow as a process running in my workshop, therefore I believe that we should be looking at getting the process defined, and then check how Sketchup can assist. Thus my question, what/how should you be handling a job coming in to the shop, the workflow part, Have any one had some flow diagrams that they been using becoease we now growing and becomes difficult to handle all things, thus need a documented flow to get every one on the same page.

      Thanks, Gelis

Gelis, I have spent the last 7 years (until this May when I started freelancing cg work) as the production supervisor for a decent sized furniture manufacturer. I am quite aware of the need to get a straight concise workflow established. That being said it is really difficult to do such a thing not knowing the ins and outs of your particular shop. Are you running a cnc cut, edgeband and build operation and bringing in doors and drawers or is this a complete custom shop. A good start I found is to pick up the book "The Toyota Way" That way you can start picking up some lean manufacturing knowledge and terminology. I hope I have been some help.

        Thanks,

Thanks for the reply, its seems now one know or have done this in a Woodwork shop. We done 50% of our work is reasonably standard items and 50% is customized, thus the problem, I don't get enough work through the shop. I have some books on the 20 keys to help with productivity also from Japanese origin.

          Thanks, Gelis

What kind of cabinets do you make? Perhaps you could share a photo or two?
