So assuming you already have that something drawn, select it and hit Edit>Cut (Command-X on Mac or Ctrl+X on PC). then open the group for editing, go to the edit menu and click on Paste in place. Done.

As do other Windows shortcuts like Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+S, etc.

On a brief note: Ctrl+V will paste anything you copied/cut before but as Dave mentioned, there is a very useful tool in SU, under the Edit menu: "Paste in place" - which will paste the copied/cut geometry into the exact same position, with the exact same alignment you got it from. This, of course, does not have a default Windows shortcut combination but you can always create your own shortcut keys under Window > Preferences > Shrotcuts.

It can be anything (except for some very basic, mostly system-wide combinations). If something is already in use, SU will warn you but still let you override that setting. The letter O is assigned to the orbit tool for instance. Of course, I never use it (use the middle mouse button instead) so I have assigned Offset to O. Originally F is assigned to Offset so then I assigned Follow me to F noww etc.

For me, paste in place is Shift+Ctrl+V as I can at least remember that.

              Gai...

I agree I use the mouse for Orbit so you key strokes seem to make alot of sence to me.
