SU Mac slow response
-
Does anyone have insight on why SU would fail to respond to key commands (or probably any keyboard input) on a Mac? Sometimes (a lot) the tool setting stays stuck after I hit the key for a new tool. Usually gives up after a few seconds, but I have had it stuck for much longer--even mousing to an icon wouldn't get rid of the line tool. Tried keyboard connection (this is on laptop where both inboard and accessory keyboard gave the same result). Any solutions or similar experience? Not doing this in other applications.
Thanks and...Happy Friday!

i'm pretty sure this happens to me sometimes but not enough for me to worry about (as in, i can't remember a specific time it has happened.. your post just feels familiar though)
do you have autosave turned on?
are you doing any process intensive stuff when this occurs (or anything in particular you can do to trigger the behavior? or is it a more random occurrence that also happens using only sketchup's native tools?)

Autosave is on. I could really do without that...I think.
No, this is like-- I am drawing a line, I am done. I want to use the move tool. The cursor won't change. Not like waiting for a redraw or anything. Also it can happen for a period. For example it will be extra sticky for part of a session.

I would say try turning off autosave for a session just to see if it improves.
probably not it but worth a shot.

I found that my keyboard was unresponsive but i then noticed that my cursor was active in the VCB or another input window - its not that is it?
That was a d'oh moment for me -
Yes, the computer is otherwise operating normally. Other apps don't show this, but SU will seem as if there is no input from the keyboard. But as I noted above (and this may vary), while the cursor moves fine it sometimes won't change the tool either, via icon.
Seeing hardware acceleration mentioned in another thread-- I checked and I found it to be ON. Wonder when that changed. It may not be related but I'll report if I see a change. It will take a while to assess.
