Region render when saving to .exr

Hi guys,
Im on SU8 on Mac with 1.49.01
I've always had issues with region renders when saving to .exr and I've finally decided to see if anyone has any answers.
With the small preview window open from the exr render (which always looks funny cus its covered in checkered lines), I can't seem to draw the region render box where I want. I try clicking and dragging but it always seems to only want to cover a small corner of the window.
I dont have this problem when I'm not rendering to .exr
Any ideas?

are you using the vray "raw" image option? try rendering normally, you can save as exr and do regions that way. I think the issue may be that with raw format, it breaks up the image into the tiles, so maybe it's trying to render a region of just that tile...
