Pile of shale stones
-
hey everyone,
for a project i want to create a scene where a wooden path leads over a pile of shale stones. now i don't know how to create the pile. build every stone? use texture with bump map?
this far i created a landscape with artisan and put the deck over it...but now i'm struggling.the scene should look somehow like this (with the path over the stones)
would be really cool if you guys could give me some hints

Dukejazz must have been answering some other question and not the one you asked. Or maybe he didn't read the question.
Is the photo you posted of the site where the path will go? If not, can you get a photo of the site? The most straightforward thing would be to use the image as a match photo and put the model of the bridge in it or use the image as a material.
If you want to be able to look at it from any direction you'll probably need some 3D shapes. I would make a number of components of various shapes and sizes and try to place them randomly. You could probably use Sketchy Physics to drop the stones or perhaps Component Spray to place them. Try to keep the stones as simple as possible. You'll end up with a lot of edges and faces anyway and performance may be impacted.

thanks for your kind answer. yes it is the site were the path will go. i have numerous pictures of it, but i still feel the need of modelling the whole thing. I will follow the clues you gave me
As i have to present something to my professor tomorrow i just made a quick photoshop scene with a quick rendered wooddeck. I'm not sure if the perspective is correct for this, but i guess for this early work stadium my prof will be satisfied

About stones you can use the crazzy Random components replacement and page 2 the 24 positions : all by Sdmitch
Random select by Tig can be useful too -
I feel it should be more like this ... not sure though !

I see you need a deck.
I thought you need a path way.
Is their a house that go's with the deck? -
