Matching curved surfaces (inside mitre on crown moulding)
-
Hello,
I created a shape with a concave face. Starting in one corner, the follow me tool did a real nice job creating the crown moulding around around all four sides of the room, but, where the forth side meets the origination corner, the moulding has a vertical edge. I'm trying to make the curved face meet on that last, inside mitered, corner.
Thanks in advance.

Try to PushPull that last face through the original you started with and then intersect the two finally delete what's left. To avoid this, I usually start my extrusion on an edge, not in a corner (although you could finish the follow me this way, too)

select the path first and be sure to include the top edge of your extrusion profile..and then it should work using the follow me tool

Yes, that's probably the problem. Starting from the corner already splits that edge and you missed to include it into your path.

Whenever I need to run a profile like that right around a shape, I usually place the initial profile in the middle of one of the sides before running Follow Me. That way, the leading edge of the extrusion returns to the starting point correctly aligned, rather than perpendicular, as in your screen shot.

Or even completely outside the whole area/path.

Ah YES!, gregw, that did it! Including the top edge of the extrusion profile closed the final miter.
Many thanks Gaieus, Alan, and gregw for your help. I appreciate it greatly. Whew! Now I can move on to other things.Thank you.
