So I'm a little newer to posting to the forum, but I've been reading it for ages. I'm interested in suggestions for ways to create trees in Sketchup that are lower poly and render well in 3DS Max. My work flow moves from Sketchup to 3DS and I'm constantly finding myself having to build site work in Sketchup and add trees/plants in Max. While the trees in max are great and are perfect for up-close and personal models because render really well, I find their high poly count can cause some serious lag when working in large projects with lots of landscape. I just need something that renders well enough for creating overall site renders. Any suggestions?

      Thanks!

      Ted

        Hi Ted,

        Have you seen this topic?

It's not directly in (or only) SU but if you could adapt Blender into your workflow, AFAIK it can export into various formats Max can use and those trees seem to be low poly enough for backdrops and even nice enough for close-ups but you can always use some nice(er), high poly trees in the foreground and low poly ones in the background.

You could also look at Tree[d]
These can be saved as .obj files and imported into SU
