Mudbox & Maya to Sketchup
-
Hi, I downloaded mudbox and maya from Autodesk and I was wondering if there is a way to export files that Sketchup will like?
It looks like the FBX file format contains all the info (textures, etc) and I can convert it to obj or dae files using the autodesk converter but no textures. Just nice triangles.
The FBX converter has some sample files and the zombie.FBX file shows all the textures. When I convert it to obj, no textures.
I downloaded the obj importer by TIG and it works well but no textures. Sometimes reverse triangles)Mudbox seems like a cool app for sculpting and adding textures. If I could get the characters into sketchup than I think it will be very useful.
I could not find a single video on youtube that dealt with this issue. I get the feeling this is not possible.
Thanks for the help!

Update:
Fluidray seems to do the job. It just took me a while to figure this out......BUT I still can't get an obj file into sketchup that contains the painted layers or textures.
I download Sculptris and no luck getting the painted object into sketchup.
Thanks!

I have a similar question, but I'm looking to export from Sketchup to Maya and to keep groups and components. Not concerned about exporting textures as yet.
Anyone have any ideas?

I have being importing my files into maya for sometime now and it works fine for me, that includes components, I don't use groups tho so not sure if they import into maya, I usually export the the model them use the fix converter by auto desk which is free to use, and it imports straight into maya with no flaws

Exporting to DAE or OBJ doesn't preserve components. Anyone know if there is a way to do that??
