Inside the VAB an S-IC, S-IIB, S-IVB, LM,SM and CM are stacked on an MLP/LUT and then taken using the CT to either LC39A or LC39B whereupon the CT parks the MLP/LUT upon 6 of the things above
How many whiskies did you say you had?

Mr James is quite right.
I got the as built drawings for the Mobile launch platform/Launch umbilical tower for the SaturnV, the scale of it is just fantastic. 78 pages of what you see below!I've seen a few models but I fancied doing my own, There are lots of photos of the Saturn V but finding good reference photos of the launch platform is hard work.

You'd think that with something this massive they could have sprung for something a little beefier than those '49 Buick shock absorbers

If I've understood it right, they're adjusters. the top and bottom connectors are threaded into the centre section and it's 8 sided like a big nut. Turning it with what must be the mother of all spanners would enable them to adjust the tie down's angle. That part of the drawing was hard to read.
There are 2 ball joints (one at the top, one at the bottom) within the tie down post. I asume they'd have to adjust the tie downs position due to thermal expansion etc on the Launch platform.

This project is staggering. Wow. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all your fabulous WIP shots. Thanks for posting.

really great stuff. Nice idea with the panoramas. Very inspiring!
I have some problems with twilightrender with huge models and big imagesizes. Mostly twilightrender gets stuck.
-
I'm using XP and this model wouldn't render, it would get through the processing stage and then go straight to Complete without rendering anything. I then found this thread on the Twilight forum and it enabled me to have enough free memory to render it.
Additionally I used ThomThom's CleanUp plugin a extensively to purge a lot of waisted faces/edges etc. At one point I copied the model several times and in each one cleared out everything except floors or walls or windows etc. I then cleaned that particular model of everything (layers/styles/scenes/edges/faces etc etc)and then reimported it into a clean SketchUp file. This got rid of a lot of stuff I didn't even know was in there.
I thought I'd been efficient in my modeling but CleanUp showed just how wrong I was. -
Tonight's Render
3000x2250 Image looking from altar towards front doors with depth of field effect to focus eye on roundal in front of altar (I hope )
Click to View Progress - Updated every 10minsEdit:
Instead of creating a new post, I'll just edit this one. Here's the finished render and the pure SU view:
Something is not quite right with the rendering, if your look at the roundal on the floor you can see 1/4 of it look different, I've make it in 4 quarters so I could get 4x1200pix images for the texture(s).
In every other view its fine, I changed nothing and all the settings match in the 4 materials so I'm not sure what's going on.
