nope, a straight up point to point modeling exercise. All that was used was Vertex Tools for the extrusions and scaling.

Yes, it's only half modelled based off a cartoon image on 123rf.com.
spotted a video online a few weeks back that showed someone modeling this at high speed and thought I'd give it a go with Vertex Tools. Did a blender version too in a lot faster time.
