Plugin for model comments/notes?
-
I've looked around a little and haven't found anything...is there a plugin (I assume) that allows you to make notes about details of a model inside a model? I'm thinking an option under the Plugins menu "Notes" that pops up a small text box where you can type in some comments..."this version of the model updates/changes the side apron length to......etc.."
thx..

Welcome FB.
Are you looking for something that would show up on screen in the model? For that you could use leader text or screen text. Or you could add text in the Description section for components or groups in the Entity Info box. I don't know of any specific plugins for this sort of thing.

Hi Dave, thanks..
I'm thinking just a general text box that you could get to popup within the model to enter/display notes about the model. I typically have(make via save as) serial versions of models as I make changes, but don't want to lose the previous model-version. I suspect you do the same. Obviously a new version was needed due to making some changes..but what were the changes? This is the text I'd enter in the text box within the model, rather than rely on memory over 5-6 versions(which doesn't work when time passes..like a day .
Other software I use at work has general "notes" options and I've gotten use to using them. I'm not seeing the option in SU..anyone want to write a script? (not I skill I have at the moment)

ToDoList http://www.smustard.com/script/ToDoList
For $8 could do what you want... and more ? -
Says it only works for SU6..I'd hate to spend $8 to find out it doesn't work in SU8 & beyond (not a lot of money, but a rather pointless way to flush $8)

It's an old plugin. When it was made, that notice meant that it only works with SU 6 (not earlier versions). True that they should update the site once in a while.
You can send a Private Message to Rick, the author, and ask about it.

The feature you're looking for is already included. From the menu, select "Window->Model Info". From the list in the dialog, click on "File". Then, you'll see a "Description" box. This text will be saved with the model.

Not to mention simply inserting text into your model with the text tool.

Everything is easy if you know how. I see how it works now..thx for the help!
(I've only been using SU for a couple weeks.)

And what I've seen of what you've done has been pretty good.
