      Hi
total newbie here and love the whole concept of sketchup, Im not new to cad but i am new to 3d modeling and love the simplicity and ability to talor this product to my neads.

Ok hears my needs i do a lot of race engine exhaust headers and car roll cages and need to find the best plugins for drawing things like this up, Im not sure about the way to go about drawing things like this they usually have a lot of curves of random size bunched together, also the other thing i need to do is to find the centreline length of each tube as i go because the finished length is critical.

so anyone with suggestions and advice on technique and which plugins to use would be greatly appreciated, thanks

          Hi folks.

If you have a picture of what you want to model, it would be easier to suggest the best approach.

Personnaly, I think that what you describe can be done using the Follow me tool. If the shapes are really complex, some plugins may make the job easier.

          Just ideas.

I have a feeling the original poster is thinking along the lines of exhaust headers like this

Then for the roll cage something like this.

I am interested in the best way to go about drawing these in Sketchup as well.
