How to make snow in snow globe?
-
hey guys.. I'm working on my holiday card for this year.. and at the moment, I'm doing a simple snow globe with my logo in it (any thoughts on this.. love/hate? haha)... i want to put some snow in there and don't think i have the skills to pull it off in pshop.. i am so not up on plugins.. any ideas how to distribute the snow around?? thanks!

Or render it with Maxwell Render (there is now a free version) and use some snow materials from here to map a sphere that is inside your globe.

I thought sketchyphysics might be the answer... just have never tried it.. i'll let you know what happens. thanks.

So simple!
Use Sketchyphysics and you will have moving snowflakes when you turn the globe! -
I always like to see your holiday cards. You do such a great job with them.
My first thought when I saw your snow globe idea is that the name should be smaller and perhaps on a building in a small village scene. And then I was thinking it would be cool to set up the view from inside the globe with a snow scene viewed through a window as the background. You need the snow floating down and a snowman.
Just an idea.

thanks dave...its a fine line. i usually have very little free time to knock them out..but at the same time, they're going to everyone so they have to look decent.. i was originally going to do a modern house in the snow globe...then a modern fireplace.. and now its moved onto this after i saw these 'modern' snow globes..
i definitely like the idea of a logo on a building though..
i'm going to add some more to the scene so i can fill up the rest of the space... was thinking maybe a little brass plate with 2011 and a scewdriver off to the side, ready to be installed?

I guess I should move this to the gallery or something....
anyway, this was another idea as I just moved to NYC last xmas.. the top would be lit red/green like it really is..
