      Greetings.
I am very new to SketchUp. The main reason I downloaded it is because I am looking for some way of bringing my old maps for pen and paper Role-playing games into 3d. What is giving me problems is that every method of going from the 2d scanned image to a 3d image involves a "lot" of line tracing or "cut and past". I have acute tendinitis in both wrist, so neither of these options is realistically possible for me. Can anyone suggest an alternative?

If the lines are clear enough, you might run the scanned images through an application such as WinTopo to create vector lines. I believe PhotoShop could also do that. Then you could import the vector lines into SketchUp and have most of that work done. To import the vector lines, you'll want SU8 Pro or you could try one of several plugins for importing DXF files into SU. Look at the list of plugins for that.
