It is sad to realize that Honoluludesktop will not be with us. It is wonderful to realize what a gift he was to the world, and to this community in his creative efforts.
May the family accept my humble condolences.
              Sincerely,

I read this sad news minutes after Mike posted it and here I am 12 hours later and I still don't know what to say.

Getting to know people in the virtual world is a strange new phenomena, although you have never met them you get to know their personalities in a strangely unique way. You read their posts and look at their work and somehow you feel a personal connection. Some people annoy you, some you are indifferent to, some make you laugh out loud or quietly chuckle to yourself. You may never directly correspond with them but each post you read adds up to a complete personality that you are familiar with. Over time you get to know who is worth listening to and Honoluludesktop certainly was.

Honoluludesktop's posts were always a good read, helpful, patient, talented, often humorous and always trustworthy. I had noticed he hadn't been around for a while but that is usually pretty normal for forums, people come and go all the time. To know he won't be posting again is sad indeed.

My best wishes go out to Wesleys daughter, Elizabeth and all his friends and colleagues. He will be missed and is already.

May you rest peacefully and your spirit live on in your creations.

I wonder is there anything we as a community can do for his family?

                          Peace to Wesley.

He was always helpful and insightful on the forum, but more than that his posts often seemed to convey a kind and humble nature.

I am saddened to hear about Honolulu's passing. I also enjoyed his thoughfull and helpfull comments.
I agree 100% with the post "Box" made above. It is hard to know what to say. The concept of virtual friends is new but the sence of loss is very real. I wish and pray for his family to find peace.

So very sad, I too am unfamiliar how one mourns for a virtual friend, yet I feel so sadden by the loss of someone I have never met. I have had many discussions on forum and via pm and email with Wesley, however I always referred to him as Honolulu. I only wished he would have made it to a basecamp so Iโ€™d at least have had a beer with him in order to validate the loss Iโ€™m feeling.
My heartfelt condolences to his family and everyone feeling his loss. He was a gentleman and always around to help when he could, SCF has lost a great member.

Like most people here I didn't know him personally, but Honolulu's passing has affected me much harder than I would have expected. Perhaps because this is such a close-knit little community. I've never been very good at expressing myself, so I'll just say RIP, Honolulu. ๐Ÿ˜ž ๐Ÿ˜ž

No, I believe Wesley was only 65 or there abouts. I will try to locate his daughter's, Elizabeth's address and send all these heart felt wishes. I am sure it will bring her some small comfort knowing more about an area of Wesley's life that she may not have been aware of.

Mike, thank you for the news. It is very sad news. I am fortunate to have had a moment to seek advice and insight from Wesley via pm. Just one of the lucky members that was able to tap into one of the forums responsible and helpful power members. My thoughts are with his family and the design communities in California and Hawaii that will miss him.

one of the great things about our architectural profession is that our structures and teachings last long after we are gone... perhaps someone could put together a small gallery of Wesley's work in honor...
