I've tried a few times to import a Revit model via FBX -> DAE -> SketchUp.
I've used the FBX Importer utility: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/item?id=10775855&siteID=123112
However, whenever I try to import an DAE from this tool into SketchUp I get a message that the import failed.

      Anyone else experienced this?
      Any solutions, workarounds?

        Hi Thomas,

The "DAE" import in "SKP 8" also shows me an error message. One way that has worked for me. I imported the file into "Meshlab" and exported the file as. "*.ply (ASCII)". For the import into Sketchup i used (jf)import.ply file or .3ds and dxf file works also.

The Initial "DAE" file I had created with "Sketchup 8".

Perhaps you that will help you.

You could try the trial version of Simlab Composer which can import *fbx and then export to *skp.

I can confirm that the Collada importer fails a 100% of the times.

Also... the Simlab .fbx importer (90$) mentioned in this thread just converts geometry, no materials.
So it is not more useful than the DWG importer in Sketchup which is free.
Since 2011 Revit version,Autodesk changed the way it writes Collada and FBX files, so they only can be read by Autodesk products.
Way to gooooooooooooooo Autodesk 👎 👎
