Window tabs placement
-
A little info on my computer. Using an old laptop Hp workstation with a wide screen second monitor.
I tried your idea and the tabs only move to the top of the screen when they are right next to the SU screen. Any further away and they pop to a position 1 1/2 " from the top of the monitor. There doesn't seem to be a problem with model info or preferences or any tool bars. just the window tabs. And the funny thing is they act normal on the laptop screen. I reinstaled SU 8 and made sure my drives for the monitors were up to date.So I don't know maybe just live with it the way it is I guess.
Any ideas please let me know.Walt

Walt, this won't be something that is adjusted in Model Info or Preferences. If you make the drawing window slightly narrower, what happens then? Or what if you make the tabs a little narrower? To do that you need to have them expanded but then you should be able to push their right side to the left a bit.

I did a short video (I'm a terrible typist) better to see than explain for me.

Thanks for your help

Walt, I get a message indicating there's nothing to see or I don't have access to your image/video. Is there a share setting you need to set?
-
Walt, I did a quick video capture of mine.

I think I fixed it sorry.

Picture is indeed worth a thousand words. So you're having trouble getting the the tabs into the title bar area. I just tried that and they go there just fine on my computer. I wonder why not on yours.

I shot another video showing mine doing what yours won't.

Really not sure they were fine for the longest time using SU just wondered if others had that happen.
This is a great forum. -
Well I got it figured out and thought I should share in case someone else finds this puzzling. The layers, entity info, materials, components and etc. must have different behavior or coded different than Model info and Preferences dialog boxes one because they collapse (great idea on the SU people). When multiple monitors are used like mine, laptop being 1024x768 and wide screen second monitor is 1600x900 for watching movies and games or SU. The screens have to be 768 pixel or lower, any higher than that and those tabs will not move to the top or bottom of the screen that is more than 768 pixel.
If in the Windows XP Display Properties settings tab the monitor that is 900 pixels aligns with top of the 768 pixel monitor the tabs will go to the top of the screen but not to bottom, vise versa if they align at the bottom the tabs will go to the bottom but not to the top.
I don't know if that's clear to anyone but I spent two days on this and that's what I found to be true.
Dave thanks for your imput -
Hi Walt, I'm glad you got it sorted out. I'm not sure about the monitor resolution thing, though. My primary monitor is 1200 high (1900 wide) and my secondary is also 1200 (by 1600 wide).

WOW those are some big screens. So maybe it's not restricted to 768 like I thought maybe they just have to be the same height. I don't know but thanks for your help once again.

I don't know. Maybe they do have to be the same height. Those happen to be the native dimensions of my screens.
