      In this attached picture I want the slotted area going through where I crudely drew it:

      It would go straight through to the other side as if it was on a similar plane to that flat side.

        One way would be to draw a face that you can extrude through the curved surface with Push/Pull. Orient things so it punches through at the desired locations. Select all of the geometry, right click and choose Intersect Faces>With model or >With selection. Then delete the unwanted geometry which will leave you with the holes you want.

        It's very similar to the leg another reader was asking about the other day. I made this illustration.

        One thing that may help for this sort of thing as well as many other operations in SketchUp is to think about how you would do it if you had the piece really in front of you. Draw the cutter or the volume of space the cutter would pass through and intersect that volume with the work.

        If you have the pro version of SU8, you could use Solid tools for this as well.

            There you go. Now just correct the face orientation inside the slot and your golden.

            I've set the back face color for my default style to the green you see above. It's easier for me to pick out on the screen so I can keep face orientation correct as I go.
