awesome, pete... that looks great. i can never get things to sit right in an HDRI scene (tutorial? )

its frustrating, because i've wanted to do this for my christmas card and i start and fail miserably and you bust it out just 'playing around'.

If you're going for full photo realism you'd need to add some subtle bump/normal/spec/dirt maps to those aluminium panels though.

It's funny how photo editors spend a lot of time trying to remove the dirt and scratches while 3D artist spend time putting them in.

Beautiful as ever Pete. It immediately drew me to the great Ralph Goings Painting "Airstream" 1970 -- one of the hallmarks of the pop art / hyper-realism movement of the early 70's. You're in good company.

Yep. Goings was superb. I've actually seen his oil paintings up close and they are spectacular! Also, Pete, you might try an very subtle and large noise map in the bump channel to achieve the warpage effect on the sides. It still is a great render!
