Distributed Rendering Spawner VIA INTERNET
-
Does anybody know if it's possible to use Distributed Rendering Spawner via INTERNET?

As long as you can communicate with the spawner, it will work. I've used DR over a VPN without any trouble. Just be aware that the scene assets need to be transferred to the spawners, and an internet connection is nothing compared to a 1gb/s local network. There's also tons of little problems that could pop up that would prevent communication with the spawners from working properly. So will it work? Sure! Is anyone at Chaos Group going to help you if you have trouble with it? No, it's not something that is supported by their support team.

I've used a couple VPN clients, it's all the same though. As long as we can communicate with the DR Spawner, it doesn't matter how you're connected. Be sure to enter the IP address of the machine that is running the DR Spawner though, not the computer name. It's possible to have DNS issues that can cause trouble resolving host names, so if you manually specify the IP address of the machine, you'll have a better success rate.

Oh yes, tnx.
I will try adding IP manually.
I was just afraid that I might have some issue because all pc-s at work are behind a rooter (nat) and have a local ip's.I can connect to one via T..amVi..er but Vray can't find IP.
I will try adding one manually and get back with the result. Thanks

NAT is not an issue once you're connected to a VPN, because you're connected to the internal network that lives behind the NAT at that point (unless you have some sort of special setup)
