My initial reaction is that I wish I'd have the chance to see such a sight. But I suppose if you're exposed to these you pray never to see one?
Safe journey home, Eric

Thanks Rich. Yeah pretty used to them however today has the worst forecast of tornado activity on record. Should be interesting to see the final tally of twisters for this storm.
This one hit downtown Huntsville last year. I had left for home about 30 min. prior. One of my co-workers had just stepped into the parking garage when the funnel came down and luckily she survived but it blew her around the garage like a twig.

Eric, now remember this is not even tornado season , May and June are, June 16th is a day all Texans fear as we normally get one or two that day...uncanny thing.
We have had a strange weather month from baseball size hail to tornadoes, floods and some parts have droughts and wild fires.
-
So true. THE END IS NEAR JK.
Just had a report of the Arab general hospital that was hit. Arab is farther south than where I am but it is starting to get really eerie outside right now.

In my part of the UK we are all worried because it hasn't rained for a month, and it's been quite warm too!
What's the weather coming to??
At least on Friday it's the Royal Wedding in London so we can confidently expect some rain
In our temperate climes we don't know we are born! -

Usually, you don't see the one that gets you...I'm out in the yard with the rest of the natives as soon as the sky turns green :`)

A tornado hit my town and destroyed a couple dozen homes while I played ping pong the first night of 3D Basecamp 2008. Fortunately, no one was hurt in that storm. I hope you and others in your city are so fortunate. Keep us posted if you are able.

i lived in florida for 25 years and never saw a tornado.. it took living in nyc, of all places, to finally see one (well, 2 on this day)
not my video.. near mi casa however. (not the cleanest language in the vid.. turn down volume if at work etc..)

I just spoke to Eric on the phone. A tornado touched down within blocks of his house but he and his family are fine. He said they are without power and may be without it for a couple of days and his daughters trampoline "got trampled" (his words). He figures the cold front will pass through in the next half hour and things should settle down for tonight.
-
Thanks for that Dave...yikes, that was close.
The other night we had the sirens go off and I just dismissed it as I always do...hmmm, this is gonna be a crazy tornado season.
-
You're welcome, Pete.
I think you're right about the season. It's been too cold here for them but I expect the first strong warm front will bring them. We did have a bit of warmer weather a few weeks ago and got some pretty strong weather then. Maybe snow tonight though.

My family and I send our best wishes and prayers to all those who have been - and currently are being - affected by these natural disasters. Been through a couple of earthquakes - but they don't seem to compare at all to what we're seeing now.
Stay safe, my friends!

Oh Crap!! just saw the news at 10... Birmingham got slaughtered, so many deaths.
-
Wow! Just caught up on all of this. I'm really glad Eric is ok...but I guess he won't be posting any more funny pics for a few days.
We're just getting news reports of all of this in the morning broadcasts. Link -
The devastation is truly awful - it looks like Japan after the tsunami
Take care... -

Just got a call from my sister in law who lives in Athens, Alabama. Her house is fine, just a lot of debris, no power (she has a shelter and generator). Madison where Eric lives is close by and they were apparently hit harder, she doubts they will have power for a while as the electric grid is pretty much all gone.
-
My prayers are with you Eric. If you get a chance to read any of this, remember we are all with you! Stay safe my friend. Take care of your family.

Eric, I know you probably can't read this for a while, but I wish you and you family all the best.
