Record rotating video of model
-
Hello!
I've just created a model in Sketch Up. Now I want to record a rotating view around the model. I don't want to do it with the cursor.
How to?

You can set up scenes and run the animation of them. You can export an animation. Or check through the plugins. there are several that will help with animations.

If you have the pro version of SketchUp, you can export an animation.
The free version can also export (since version 6).
Have a look at this example file - it does exactly what you are planning to do:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=ed6358317ca6c63cf316679995e7e4d8&prevstart=0If you right click on a scene tab and "Play animation", it will (seemingly) rotate the model in the middle - in "reality", the camera is moving around.
If the size of your object is similar, you can even change the aircraft to it and go to File > Export > Animation (check out the Options to get what you really need).

All those animations on the Warehouse are (I'm assuming) automatically generated by the Google Web Exporter plugin, available on the SketchUp site. Sure, they are designed to be interactive, but the plugin produces an image sequence that is read by the Java window...a sequence that can just as easily be compiled into a continuously looping gif, avi, mov or whatever. The plugin allows you to edit the image size and the number of frames per revolution. A little bit of tweaking of the Ruby code (it's plain text) will allow you to alter the standoff distance, so you can zoom further in or out than the default distance.

I did not mean the 3D View of the model but the way its scenes are arranged inside the model itselfin order to make it possible to export an animation of the model. It was for another help forum question actually.
