WIP Airship Part 2
The capacity for the airship is 2-3 person yet it more suitable for solo medium distance flight carrying light cargo.
The Engine Does not seams right. The front like a jet engine while the back like a propeller engine in reverse position.
Time to figure out how to attach the balloon and the ship.

Great artwork, creativity and know-how meeting each other !! Congratulations !

The Sky Orca...Hubbahubba...

WIP Airship 3
Haven't much of a progress, just added an air rudder, and internal frame.
Wood Color does not match up wit the engine color. Maybe better if it's painted in different color.
Still Figure out How to attached the balloon and the ship, time to look some reference in Internet. And This is Sky Orca Google 3D Warehouse link http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=3b5496717d0897a82f8af30e2febc8e8

WIP Airship 4 (Color and Material Test)
The Mostly Done only need some detail in several part and still missing fuel tank and control mechanism detail .
But This Work Is Post Pone for now. I'll Try Model Something else. -
Only 10 months!Impressive!
-
What happens if there is some more weight at the back because of the engine then there is in the front with the ropes being in the middle? hehe.
Nah it looks awesome. ^^

Maybe putting the rope in the middle not a good idea. since i mention this more suitable for cargo the rope just in the way.
Sky Metropolis
This time I'll try to model a city in the sky.
Kinda impossible how many time i look at it. the buoyancy off all of all those helium will never enough to keep the structure suspended in air.
Without anchor or mechanism to drive them they will easily drifted by the wind.Oh well. I'm Thinking to much.
This city is contain of three level top is the main city, the middle is for sky harbor for airship parking zone. the lower level is slum and some housing and station for the city mechanic to make sure the the city is in the sky.
There is also peek level that not finished yet. Here the clay render after the city added

Actualy I put them in Google 3d Warehouse. The size around 10 MB at this link http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=3b5496717d0897a82f8af30e2febc8e8
But if You still want it here

Progress on Sky Metropolis.
Building Air Port Level and Put Some detail on it.
At this Point I hit 1 mill edges (I never hit this many before). thanks to component and layer, modeling at this size is not an obstacle any more and the size of the file still under 3 MB. Compare to Sky Orca with only around 212.000 edge with file size 10 MB because of the number of same component is significantly lower.
I also notice a behavior of the sketchup That I never experience before. When Moving a camera around model some distance components are turn into box.
Yet The time taken to export them to Kerkythea is drastically increase it even longer if i don't export them as instance. Resizing or rotating some component is hell.
Well Because sketchup only support single core process I decide to do some side rendering during adding those detail.
Even tough in my Task manager showing all 2 core active, the process is split between two core which is 50% 50% on each core. Last time i install Sketchup 8 only 1 core active at 100%, is it an update sketchUp or Windows. maybe new process management by windows for handling non-multi core support program

Very nice Fabiazz, Im guessing there is alot of Copy and paste involved seeing as the structure is Cylindrical?
Love the City as well nice render

Thank you and Yes, A lot copy paste using array and component. I follow your WIP on Tug Boat and Hopper Dredger "Crane" They are great reference on sketch up Work flow.
Number Of Edges 1,19 million.
My SketchUp already Crash 2 time during modeling. And it still half way to go.
I don't know how many edges and how many crashes I have to endure when I finished this.
Diameter of the sky city is 6,60 KM
High still negotiable since the top part not finished yet.
Right now I'm Preparing the lay out for the Slum and mechanic station at the lower level.
-
yes! i want to see the slum! thank you for sharing!
