Thanks Solo. Yeah, I just fixed up some models I found on the warehouse. Took me awhile, my methods are crude and figuring out how to use the plugins I should be using is very difficult. But it turned out to be a pretty good way to learn SU.
As far as rendering them, I don't know anything about rendering but wouldn't it be difficult because of all the textures?

I agree,it is a great way to learn, I missed this as when I started with SU there was no warehouse (@last days),I'd have done the same if it was available.

        That's the whole challenge. 😄

So, You need to figure out how best to create smooth accurate car bodies now, right?

I'd suggest checking out Chipp's videos using Artisan, as you have already seen the other methods on Youtube.

Well, I'm not sure the cars are smooth enough for rendering. No way for me to tell, of course. I did try to look at Chipp's videos, kept freezing on me, and now whenever I open a web page the music from his videos plays in the background. It's playing right now. Driving me nuts. 😆

Just bought, downloaded and installed Arisan. Looks like a fantastic plugin, now all I have to do is figure out how to use it. No sleep for me tonite!

I am impressed. Screen grabs straight from SU this good, I wonder how will renders look.

Thanks for the compliments. As far as rendering them, if I upload the Chevy maybe someone else can do it, but rendering doesn't really interest me, for these models anyway. Since I tried to make them as stock as possible, like they just came off the showroom floor (I even turned back the odometer to zero), rendering them would only make them look like any other photo of a '57 Chevy, and there are plenty of them out there. Now, if I could render them and they could still be viewed as a SU model, that would be different (maybe in ten or fifteen years when computers are so powerful that it could handle the task with ease). I can see the value of rendering if someone creates an original model, something that doesn't exist in the real world, like a robot or house or spaceship or something. That would be interesting. One thing I'm thinking about doing, there are a lot of classic cars that I like but there are some changes I would make to them. Like the '57 Chrysler 300C, I love the lines but the grill area is butt ugly.
Was hoping to get more feedback on these, you know how it is, you spend so much time on a model it's difficult to step back and look at it objectively. Ah twell.
                  Anyhow, I appreciate your comments.

Fantastic work hellnbak, I for one would be interested in downloading the Chevys 👍
There's alot of stuff on the warehouse that could use some sort of tweeking to make them better, and you've done a great job with the GTO.

Anyone else notice the cop in the side view mirror in the next to last image.
                            Nice touch!

Didn't see the cop until you mentioned it. How about the Brown Recluse on the headlight?
At least one of the interiors has a Pontiac emblem on the steering wheel hub and the radio nearby says Pontiac.

By the way, nice chrome trim work. Are these textures available for use in Sketchup?

Not sure what this means, the bottom two photos are of the 67 GTO I did.

Thanks. I took all of my textures from photos of actual cars, and other things. A lot of searching to find the right photos, and very tricky to project these just right, a lot of piecing and patching and editing and trial and error. But I'm getting better at it.

Ok, I was not paying attention to the previous posts indicating the GTO.
As for the edit: My memory was fuzzy about design features of 1957 Chevy. I thought that only the Impala had the chrome, and the BelAir was mostly smooth, but after researching, I found that there was no mention of Impala as a model for 1957. I only edited in case someone had already viewed the submit.

A few early shots of my '56 Sunliner, my first scratch-built model. Still a lot of work to be done, thinking about making a Crown Victoria version also. Building from scratch is a whole new ball game, but much more rewarding than fixing up somebody else's work.
