      Hey guys,

I would like to learn how to create a model as shown in the image.

I am able to create the "a" part (irregular shape) but I don't know how to create the tentacle like "b" as I do not know how to sculpture or bend it like this picture.

      Can someone teach me?

As I found that my biggest problem in creating organic shape is I do not know how to create a basic form before I use SDS to smooth it.

And also, I do not know how to sculpture or modify the model after I subdivide it.

      Any great tutorials?

      Thank you very much!

Oh! Actually I found out how to do after I posted this. LOL. I went to too complicated before that, it is actually quite easy...

But anyway, I am still need help in using SDS tool. I do not know well how to modify the model after I convert the basic shape to an organic shape so everytime I want to make a changes, I have to go back to my original shape then subdivide again. :S

Group the original shape then subdivide. Your original becomes the proxy and your desired shape is the subsurf. Check Outliner and Layers windows.

When you edit the proxy the subsurf will adjust 'on the fly'. Just use the layers windows to hide and unhide either.

Download the free D'oh Book for SketchUp

Erm, how to hide the proxy after I finish edit everything? I tried to uncheck the layer box but everything is hidden then.

What I did last time is I double click the group then select the proxy and right click hide - does it mean I can't unhide it anymore? I can't edit the subsurf anymore if I want to?

              Thanks!

Turn on Hidden Geometry in the View menu, then Right click -> Unhide
