A curving barber pole??
-
It's hard enough to do a stripes design, like on a barber pole ... but I've got one even harder. The pole is curved. Here is a photo and a model to show what I mean.
I have to model it, but this one has me stumped. Does anybody have an idea how to approach it?

That picture is lousy and I can't tell what it is you are actually after. Can you come up with a better photo?
And are the bolt heads supposed to be on surface or angled as you have them?
Is this what you're after?

I'm only concerned about that part with the diagonal stripes, not the bolt heads or overall shape. The stripes are on a separate part, a cylindrical rib that runs along the outer edge of the fin. Like this ...
Thanks!

What's the diameter of the cylindrical rib?
-
4"

Something like this but bigger? I didn't see your dimension until after drawing this but I don't have time to redraw it right now.

Thanks Dave. I figured out what to do!
-
Yeah. But was I on the right track?
And how did you decide to do it?
-
Yes, that was exactly what I wanted ... but the design changed and got much easier. Thanks anyway!

I guess there's not much to do when the design changes.
