'Trabecula' Forms in Sketchup?
-
Hi, I am new to this forum and relatively new to Sketchup, with the exception of some basic architectural sketch modelling in the past.
For my latest University project, I'll need to construct various internal spaces out of 'trabeculae', (internal bone micro-architecture), akin to the attached image below.
I was just wondering what tools within Sketchup (or plugins?) that could potentially do something similar to this organic form? I've tried playing around with various plugins (FFD & bubble tools) but I'm not getting anywhere close to the shapes I need!
If anyone can offer any suggestions on how to model these complex forms, I'd very much appreciate it. =]
Thanks,
Simon.

Woah, thanks guys that program is awesome. Certainly does exactly what I requested, thanks for your fast response! Below is my first attempt at creating the forms, a bit crude- but its in the right direction.
So far I've played around with the subdivide and smooth tools- and they seem to work perfectly. I'd love to know more about this Artisan program, I can see it being instrumental in my final design project. Are there any tutorials or documentation on this plugin at all?
Thanks again!

Funny, I have been playing with something similar tonight. There is a plugin called Qhull. You might find this interesting to generate random cell structure.
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=19040&hilit=qhullI tried to combine Qhulls' Voronoi with Lattice Maker and Artisan. It got kind of messy, but at least it looks organic.
