I'm having a problem with my Vray pluggin render. My trees have stopped rendering the alpha cutout in the shadows. I'm getting the shadow of the card not the tree. Does anyone know what the issue here is. I was wondering if it is file size. These are large files. 65meg plus.My machine is an
    i7 950
    12g ram
    Quadro 4000 card
I know the ram is limited by the 32bit program.
I'm using the default Vray render settings at the moment.
The tree file types are PNG format.

I'm sorry this is not the place for that question, you should go to the asgvis forum for that type of questions 😄

As far as I know, V-ray does not render alpha channels so you should add the clipmap (B&W image) to the proper slot.

This may be an obsolete info however so anyone with a more up-to-date knowledge of V-ray, please, correct me if I am wrong (especially as you are saying "they stoppedrendering the shadows" - i.e. it seems they may have worked).

We have a V-ray subforum however so I will move this topic there.

in the current version (1.49.01) there is an option in the diffuse material layer that you can check to enable alpha transparency for a png type file --> "use color texture as transparency"

I use a png alpha image on all my 2d trees. This is what is concerning me. I'm sure I have done everything right as far as that goes. These objects worked fine on a image I did a few weeks ago.
