Kerkythea Rendering
-
Have you guys ever hused Kerkythea to render your model? Do you know of any sites (other then the Kerkythea site itself) with a database of "ready to go" materials?
-
Hundreds (if not thousands) of members here have used (and still use) Kerkythea. But what do you mean by "ready-to-go" materials? That you can simply import into Kerky? I do not think there is any special repository of Kerky materials other than their site (why would be?). There is an abundance of materials shared both in their repository and on the forums.

I tried Kerk 2 Years ago because it was free. I found it a little tricky but must say its
got delicious renders. And yes materials are available from their site as packs but that was a while
ago.I do believe Thea is the commercial version of Kerk.
These were my first 2 renders as a noob new to SU and Kerk.
*Im still a noob

Indeed.

Well, many people looks at them this way (sometimes me included) but the Thea Team would protest.
Thea is really a completely different build but I know no more about internals either.

Here is one of my latest renders in kerky.
Some things I modeled, some I got from the warehouse.

Twilight is a commercial renderer which uses the Kerkythea render engine, but has a nicer user interface and is better integrated with SketchUp.
Recent Twilight renders in the Gallery:

Is it correct to say anything that can be done in Twilight can also be done in Kerkythea, but may be more work to get there?

Well, at least simpler (with lots of easy to use presets) and easy to use, fast to set up...

True. In fact, there are some features that are not present in Twilight but from Twilight, after setting everything up, you can easily export your model to Kerkythea and use those features there.
